Welcome back to What We Do Wednesday! This week was full of adventures, nature walks, camping activities, and good summer fun! Don’t forget to check out last week’s edition of What We Do Wednesday #4.

We visited our local air museum, home of retired cargo planes, passenger planes, helicopters, jets, and even a small version of Air Force One. The girls love to visit the airplanes and we focus on something different each time (number of propellers, wheels, doors, size, purpose, type of cargo, etc.).

We went on our first ever family canoe ride. While participating in the backyard summer camp with Playdough to Plato we spent a lot of time this week talking about camping and camping activities. This canoe ride was a definite favorite and gave us the chance to see so many awesome new things.

On yet another nature walk to an awesome new trail we found the remains of this old textile mill along a beautiful river. It was a fun way to talk to B about how clothes were made a long, long time ago, not to mention an absolutely gorgeous walk!

We went on a nature walk at our favorite reserve trail nearby and spotted a few of these Fiddler Crabs, which I’m obsessed with now. We learned why some have a large claw and others do not. Nature walks are such a fun way to learn about nature, read more about that here.

We made tin foil boats and then added Goldfish until they sunk! Then we built them again! A fun science lesson!

It’s Summer time, so we are in full-fledged Popsicle mode! This is a favorite afternoon treat!

S’MORES! We made S’more during our camp out night using a terra-cotta pot and charcoal. Check out this fabulous idea here!

Family Camp Out! We pitched a tent in our backyard, and spent the whole afternoon and night outside playing, making S’Mores, and having fun just as if we were camping!
