Although we have had a few gorgeous days of sunny, warm weather, we have also had our fair share of chilly, rainy days as well. And with that comes stir crazy kiddos who are just ready for summer. So, one day after attempting to play outside with no success, I decided to let the kids have some water fun indoors. This water sensory bin is super easy and will keep your kiddos entertained for a long, long time. We have also done rice sensory bins before which you can check out here.
As you will able to tell, we started with just a few toys and slowly kept adding more and more. By the end, the bin was pretty full of bath toys, cups, and anything fun we could find to add in.
Why the Sensory Bin Craze?
Sensory bins can have many purposes besides just allowing kids to explore their senses. In this case, I wanted to work on some vocabulary with Shrimp and she loves to splash and make a mess with water so this was perfect. You can also work on fine motor/gross motor skills by practicing pouring, catching fish, and so much more.
If you are wanting to jump on the sensory bin bandwagon, don’t over think it. Throw some rice in a bin with a few farm animals or some small scoops and your kiddos will be ecstatic. Or put an inch or two of water into a bin, add a few bath toys, a measuring cup and let them enjoy!
I’ve found that my kids enjoy an activity for about 1/2 the time it takes me to get it ready! This sensory bin took minutes to prepare and they played for close to an hour!
Here are some great toys/items that would be wonderful in a water sensory bin:
Well I hope you enjoy this sensory bin as much as we did. What other sensory bins have you tried? What are some of your favorites?
