Today, I wanted to share with you our favorite books for the letter K. I know there are a lot of book lists out there and I’ve used many of them myself, however by luck and a little research I’ve also stumbled upon a few more that may not have made those lists.
Books for the Letter K

Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes. This book was very simple but yet very cute. B absolutely loved it, we must have read it at least three times a day, every day. B’s favorite was everything that the kitten went through to get the bowl of milk that he was after.
Kite Day was another fun book this week. The graphics were great and the ending was sweet. A great book for any Letter K collection.
Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. I thought this book was great. I think it was a little over B’s head but we enjoyed the graphics and the ideas presented none the less. You have to read “Stuck” to find out just what it takes to get your kite unstuck.
Koala Lou by Mem Fox is a very sweet book about a little koala looking for a little TLC from her mama. The message is perfect, no matter what you do I’ll always love you.
Counting Kisses by Karen Katz. This was another favorite this week with all three of my girls. We counted out kisses and acted out the book over and over. This book is perfect for younger kiddos birth to two, but you can find ways to expand upon the ideas and keep even older kids engaged. B loved acting out the book by kissing her little sisters. We also practice counting and making the “k” sound. A great book to read even if you aren’t learning the letter K.
There you have it, our favorite books for the letter K. I hope that you enjoy them as much as we did. There are plenty of fun crafts to go along with these books and excellent opportunities to practice letter recognition, the K sound, and to just ENJOY reading.
Warmest wishes and happy reading.
