If you remember back to last Spring, I spent a good amount of time discussing with you the benefits and joys that can come from going on a nature walk. Since then, through our own nature walks and by reading about the adventures of my good friend Becca at The Bucket, I’ve come up with a list of super simple and fun things you can do while you walk. In this new Nature Walk Series, I will share one activity every few weeks for you to try.
Nature Walk Series
Each post in this series will feature one new activity for you and your little ones to try the next time you decide to go explore. Some of these may be so simple that you are going to say, “Duh, why didn’t I think of that.”
Others may take you a little outside of your comfort zone. Either way, the hope is that you and your little ones will develop a love for the outdoors and exploring nature.
What to Expect
Just to clarify, your nature walk does not have to include you hiking out in the middle of nowhere with no one around for miles. Although those hikes are perfectly fine and can be fun, they may often be scary and sometimes dangerous. If you do decide to super adventurous take another adult with you and make sure someone knows where you are, just to be safe.
Your nature walks do not have to be that intense. They can be something as simple as a walk around your neighborhood. You can also take a walk through your backyard, or venture into some of those more off the grid hiking trails.
No matter where you choose to walk, it’s what you do on that walk that matters.
In this new series, each post will feature one activity that you can do the next time you are out and about. I will share ways to complete the activity, the benefits, and how I’ve used it with my own kids.
If you have ideas or suggestions that you would like me to explore please feel free to let me know. I hope this series is one that encourages you to get out and take a second look at nature!
If you are in the Delmarva area, I encourage you to join us! We will be exploring State Parks in the Delmarva area and completing some of the scavenger hunts like this one, Nature Scavenger Hunt.
We love going on walks as a family! Such a refreshing and fun time together.
They are! My girls beg to walk in the woods behind our house daily!
I’m looking forward to reading this series!
Leah, thank you so much! I hope it delivers for you! 🙂
