I don’t know about all of you, but I am having such a hard time focusing on our letter and staying on my crazy preschool schedule. I would so much rather sing Christmas songs and make fun Christmas related crafts, but we carry on! 🙂
Here is a list of books related to the letter W that are great for any daycare, preschool, or homeschool. I have also added any and all activities that we did related to these books. If you want more ideas for the Letter W don’t forget to check out, Letter W Preschool Activities.
This is a really cute book that had the kids laughing hysterically. Who doesn’t love Watermelon?
For a little shaker fun after reading, we created this adorable Watermelon shaker courtesy of CeresChildcare. All you need is a little paint, a paper plate, a black marker, and some dry beans. The kids loved painting but loved shaking it even more once it was dry.
Another amazing book by Doreen Cronin! The life of a worm, including silly antics with a spider and a lot of dirt.
After reading all about worms, we decided to make our very own.
A cute book about all the things the wind blew around town.
We took this opportunity to talk about weather and since Winter is coming soon, we made this adorable Winter Weather W with construction paper, white crayons, and cotton balls!
This is a classic, so it’s no surprise that all of my kiddos loved it or that we read it many, many times. We loved the pictures, as well as trying to guess what the animals were and making the different animal sounds.
Awesome adventures in walking! This book portrays a little girls treasures on her walks with her family. It also incorporates all the different seasons. Great pictures and a really cute story. This book gives you so many opportunities to talk about weather, walking, seasons, colors, and so much more!
We came up with this craft on a whim. I gave the kiddos white paper and had them draw worms or anything else that they wanted that had to do with W. Being 3 and under they all drew squiggly worms. Then we glued it on to a piece of construction paper in the color of their choice and added shoes.
This was so fun, especially after reading both books about walking!
There you have it, our favorite books for the letter W and the crafts that they inspired!
