Great Community Helper Activities

September 30, 2016 By Dani Wagner 2 Comments

We recently spent a week learning about Community Helpers in our Preschool, and technically I think we could have spent two. Community Helpers is a fun unit for the beginning of the school year. There are so many ways amazing books to read and craft projects to do.

Activities

If you are looking for a great book that covers a few different jobs you have to check out Clothesline Clues for the Jobs People Do. We absolutely loved this book. The kids loved trying to guess the persons’ job just by the clothes they wore and suprisingly the farmer was the hardest of all.

We also love to use sonds/videos occassionally, so I created this amazing playlist. Community Helpers is full of songs that describe the various jobs that Community Helpers do with videos that will have your kids jumping with excitement.

This playlist is made up of songs that are specific to different jobs as well as songs that discuss Community Helpers as a whole. Here are just a few:

  • Police Officers by Storybots
  • Sesame Street: Ben Stiller sings about Friends and Neighbors
  • Cool BIG FIRE TRUCKS kids songs by Lots of Videos for Kids
  • Community Helpers by TinyTapps

These songs will have your kids learning, singing, and dancing in no time.

And just for fun I had to share this… After learning all about chefs and bakers we made these adorable chef hats! Another fun way to learn about community helpers.
