Morning Basket Books for February

March 9, 2018 By Dani Wagner Leave a Comment

We started a Morning Basket at the beginning of this school year and have been pretty consistent with it all year. I’ve changed my method throughout as a way to read more books and stay consistent but the idea has remained the same. We read!

Each day whether before breakfast or right after breakfast, the kids get to pick a quiet activity (coloring, play dough, blocks, puzzles, etc.) to play with while I read. During this time we usually read a handful of picture books, our novel, and at least one or two books/stories from the math, nature, art, music, or poetry categories.

Each week at the library the kids get to choose books for our morning basket, but I also try to choose books so that we have a variety of topics, age levels, and styles.

I really love this time.

In the winter, we turn on the fireplace and curl up with books and coffee (for me) and just read! Some days an entire hour will go by.

As a way to keep track of what we read and to motivate me to read more, I wanted to start sharing our monthly Coffee and Books with you! I hope that you will find books that your little ones love from this post and the posts to come. Feel free to share your favorite books with us too!
