Hands On Activities for Preschoolers: Dilly’s Tree House

March 8, 2017 By Dani Wagner Leave a Comment

This is a review of Dilly’s Tree House, but the opinions are 100% honest and my own!

As a stay at home mom to three preschool ages girls, plus two preschool aged boys that I watch during the week, I am always on the look out for fun hands-on activities. Preschool is such a fun age and the sky is the limit on the incredible things you can explore with your preschoolers. Which can actually make it very daunting.

I love activities that revolve around a book or multiple books. Activities that include crafts (the messier the better) and of course pre-kindergarten skills like identifying shapes, colors, letters, etc. Being able to incorporate social skills like listening, and following directions are also vital. And we can’t forget about math skills like counting and patterns.

When you think about it, there is a lot that needs to be covered in those pivotal years before your little ones start Kindergarten. While you can definitely cover all those Pre-Kindergarten skills at home, it’s always nice to know there are outside resources available.  Dilly’s Tree House is a phenomenal option for your preschoolers.

Dilly's Tree House, Hands on Activities for Preschool

I’ve heard so many veteran homeschool parents refer to this time of year as the burn-out period or the homeschool blues. After being a SAHM mom for two years now I totally get it. This is the time of year when I start getting ancy. As soon as the weather gets nice I am ready to blow off our school work and spend our days enjoying the great outdoors.

Now, I realize that school is super important and although I’d rather be outside, we make time for some structured learning activities each day. But this is the time of year when I just seem to lose my creative edge and I really struggle. So, when I was recently asked to review Dilly’s Tree House: Investigator Kids Club, I jumped at the opportunity. The timing was perfect!

What We Love About Dilly’s Tree House

The excitement began as soon as we received the box. I mean what kids don’t love getting mail. The girls helped me open it up and immediately wanted to start exploring its’ contents.

With Dilly’s Tree House, your child(ren) will receive a box in the mail each month, full of fun hands-on learning activities to help them learn, grow, explore, and continue building those preschool skills.

The very first box we opened suggested that the kids explore water-color paints, while I (the parent) looked through the box and planned out activities.  As a parent, this was amazing. Not only were my kids being productive, but they were extremely engaged in their painting which gave me the freedom (at least 5 minutes) to sit down and map out what we wanted to do and when.

Each box  you receive from Dilly’s Tree House will contain:

  • a high-quality, fun learning tool for exploration and enrichment
  • a quick-start card that  provides a guide to the components and activities in the box.
  • a fun and engaging book with bright, vibrant pictures.
  •  a  parent’s guide with 12 simple, open-ended activities.
  • a toolbox poster which contains activities to practice important skills, such as sorting, counting, shapes, color, and patterns.
  • a Kindergarten Readiness Checklist
  • some type of musical activity (a CD is provided in Box 1).

Another reason to love Dilly’s Tree House is that it is designed to be used for about 10-15 minutes, three times a week. In that time you will cover readiness skills in literacy, oral language, social studies, STEM, music, art, and physical and social-emotional development. You will literally be covering all the bases!

Dilly’s Tree House is truly a well-rounded, fun, engaging, and just awesome resource! Not to mention that they do it all for an amazing cause.
